Annoying parties, charities and I think I hate proms.

So, in another 2 days, it will be the week countdown until my 18th birthday, now this is a stage where everyone is buzzing for the party, even myself... But in reality, I am not.

Sure it's the big 18 where I can actually buy alcohol legally, and it does have it's positives, but I'm not the party kind. I mean, my parents have to gone to huge efforts to make this party happen, having hot food, buying me a dress, me getting my hair done, but the person that people see all dressed up at that party, won't be me.

I hate dressing up like a princess, long dress (Rather wear my jeans), hair up (I always have my hair down, having it up is just eurgh) make-up, (Barely wear it, other than mascara). It makes me sad. ;__;

It's not even like I have a choice either, my mother has picked it all, even down to the music. Not going to lie, I'm a rock fan at heart and music like 'Black Eyed Peas' just depresses me. (I like their old stuff, but their new stuff. Just no).

Onto more depressive issues

So, in college we're having a meeting over orgasnising charity events, and the main teacher is basically going to be all like 'We want everyone to participate to help raise as much money as we possibly can) In other words, she wants to have her 5 minutes of fame in the local newpapers.

This ANGERS me. All they care about is media attention, sure charities like Red Nose Day helpp a good cause, but they're so empathised on, everyone else forgets the smaller charities that get next to no recognition. Last year I kept reminding her about a few of them last year and then made out as if she'd thought of the idea herself, however she never kept her promise and nothing did ever happen, she'd promised homeless people that she'd help, but no, Children in Need came first, she had people go out of lessons to go on a sponsored walk (Which I may argue is not actually sponsored) people on the street might throw 5p in a bucket if you're lucky. It's a pathetic way of making money, and barely helps anyone, and at the end of it she's like 'We helped raise £1000'. Not trying to be mean, but Children in Need makes Millions and you can guarantee not all of that money goes to charity.

Her motivation is just based upon the media. That is just it.

And now for Prom

Where do I begin with this one, so it's the same teacher as I was ranting about a moment ago... She basically wanted some good ideas for prom and wanted out feedback, and a couple of weeks later... BANG... She'd already thought of a theme! 'Hollywood vs Bollywood'

A) She didn't discuss this with the forum.
B) She chose this theme because she said that they link well with the film industry. (I happen to be a film student, and I happen to know this is a lie and she knows nothing)
C) She's also trying so hard to not offend one ethnicity, that she's actually offending the other.

She's one of these people that are really happy all of the time, and you can see right through them and realise that they're not what they're making out to be. It's annoying.

Here is one thing she said 'We're going to make it like the oscars, we'll have prizes for best bollywood dressed, and for overall dressed' SHE'S SKIPPING OUT HOLLYWOOD TO NOT BE RACIST. BUT IT ACTUALLY MAKES HER RACIST.

She also tried to force me to dress up in Bollywood, and I will simply not stand for that type of attitude, she has no control over me, she thinks that Hollywood and Bollywood are all sparkly and she wants us in lots of sparkles and glitter. The word 'tacky' comes to mind when I mimagine people in diamonds, I'm sure people from both of these cultures actually have sophistication to them.

She doesn't understand culture!!!!!

I'm leaving this here before I blow up.

So good day and have fun!!!
Till next time <3 p="">

SCIENTOLOGY. DOES IT COME IN PEACE?

Scientology has become increasingly popular in the last few years, but what is it really about?

After researching on the official Scientology website(1), after watching the video that says Scientology is about helping people, I have come to the conclusion that Scientology is not a religion in my own opinion, it focuses mainly on Hollywood hipsters. You don’t really have to be in a religion to follow the morals of this group, or helping people out.

You shouldn’t have to pay such an excessive amount of money to get to a higher rank, this is capitalism at its best. ‘$128,000 to reach Clear, another $33,000 to reach OT III, and an additional $100,000 to $130,000 to reach OT VIII, which is the highest level currently available.' It focuses mainly on the middle class and is out of reach to normal people, this shows that this religion is elitist. It has also not been given legal statuses as a religion in the UK because of how much you have to pay.

Where does this money even go to?

‘Ruined lives. Lost fortunes. Federal crimes. Scientology poses as a religion but really is a ruthless global scam -- and aiming for the mainstream’ - Richard Behar. I do agree that you should not have to pay for being in a religion, religion is something you put faith into, not money. Marxist would argue that this is just a way in gaining more money and is a religion for the upperclasses, you never hear stories about working class scientologists, unless they are people who have escaped the religion and have lost everything.

What is Scientology?

Most of us only think about the bad points, about it being a cult and aliens coming to Earth, but many of us don’t actually know the basics of Scientology and have many misconception. Scientology is a religion that offers a precise path leading to a complete and certain understanding of one’s true spiritual nature and one’s relationship to self, family, groups, Mankind, all life forms, the material universe, the spiritual universe and the Supreme Being(2)

In the media we're always hearing bad things about this religion, such as it being a cult more than a religion. So is there a good side to Scientology? So even though there are all these bad things about Scientology, they have still helped out a lot of people, such as going out helping soliders(Which I may add, can be done outside of any religion). In one case specifically, Scientology helped one woman overcome her sons death. (3)

“In Scientology, we have what’s called “auditing,” and that helps you to address things in your life and to strip them away,”

"Also, it helps rid the mind of painful experience completely. Through that, the people at my church literally held my hand and got me through… I will forever be indebted.”

(Why Will Smtih, Why?!)

Just a few famous people in Scientology

Feminism and Scientology...

So, I'm not a big fan of feminists (They'd probably hate me) However I'm sure they'd hate Scientology more. Some feminists may argue that some women following Scientology are oppressed because of having to give birth in silence or not being able to climb the ranks of the Sea Org and have children. This can be seen as having discrimination against women.

Overall, of Scientology wants to be more accepted in society, they need to be more open to people in society about the content of their religion and stop chasing people around. This can be seen in 'Scientology and me' a documentary created by the BBC. Overall it helps some people in society and offer charity to people that need it.

Gold From Stone...

Okay, so my last blog was quite boring, I had nothing to review, so my teacher suggested it. I apologise. But I'll make it up to you all today.

So yesterday I had to go to the bank to have some stuff sorted out in prior to my 18th birthday, and the guy who I was talking too was in a band, my initial thoughts were 'A person who works in a bank has a band' Yes, I can be quite stereotypical. BUT. I'm moving off the point, so I went home and gave them a listen, and they're really good, if anyone knows me at all they'll know that I love my music more than anything else. EVEN BREATHING. [Bad joke right ;D]

But yeah, I'll leave you a link to there page and give them a listen
